Another school assignment. I had to make an A3-sized ad. It didn’t matter for which product, as long as it was original.

I’ve always been an enthusiast of the Victorinox Swiss-army knives (SAK). I got my first SAK when I was 6 and went camping. I’ve become really fond of them. Plus, when I read the assignment, I immediately had this idea in mind. When ideas happen in the blink of an eye, I’ve learned that most of them are pretty good ;)

Anyway, I think it’s important for advertisements (and commercials) to have a certain sense of humour. In my experience, it’s easier to remember an ad that made you smile (or grimace, but that’s a negative association).

I guess it’s pretty clear what it implies ;)

Happy new year guys! I hope all of your wishes and dreams may come true in this year.

I got out of bed early yesterday, to participate in @scotbaston’s New Year Sunrise Challenge. About 35 photographers from all over the globe got up early to photograph the rising sun. I really hate getting up early, so it was quite an accomplishment for me. Especially after barely four and a half hours of sleep.

The panorama (5x21mp photos, so the original file is really huge) above was one of the resulting shots. You can see my other image on Flickr. Check out the photos by other photographers over here.

New website

Anyway, I’m kind of proud to announce my new portfolio website! I’ve been designing this for a while now, and I thought it would be a good idea to release it on January the 1st. I know it’s January the 2nd right now, but it was actually released yesterday evening. So some people might have seen it already. It isn’t completely finished yet (I’ll be adding a ‘series’ page in a while), and the photos will be continuously updated, but most of it is pretty final.

If you’ve got any feedback on anything, I would appreciate it if you would let me know. Preferably by using the contact form, by DM on Twitter or by MSN.

Cheers!

I’ve always been intrigued by graphic design. When I was a kid, I dreamed of becoming a designer. Long story short: it wasn’t so great as I thought it would be (I came to that conclusion after about a half year of graphic design school) so I gave up that dream.

However, I’ve always designed my own logos, magazines for school, flyers and websites. Now that my photography gets more serious, I decided to create my own business cards.

It wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be. I find it difficult to make decisions in general (I’m quite a nitpicker), but decisions about anything design (or photography) related is a whole new world of frustration.

Anyway, in the end I chose this design. It’s printed on 400 grams matte paper. The logo on the front is coated with Spot-UV to give it a more distinguished look.

I’m quite happy with it :) Let me know what you think!

Ps. Yes, the cards aren’t aligned completely straight. And yes, I blurred my telephone number. I don’t want everyone to call me ;)
