This is a selection of the portraits commissioned by nursing home Theodotion in Laren (Noord-Holland). They asked for a series of photographs of residents in their own, private room, recreation room or common room; a place where the resident feels comfortable and spends a lot of time.

Although old age is inextricably associated with the necessary (and confrontational) defects and inconveniences, they are not covered up. They are people in the purest form there is. People as they are. A number of the portrayed residents passed away since these photos have been made. Some of the families used these portraits at the funeral of their loved one. Very grateful work.

The complete series of twenty photographs is mounted in the corridors of the home.
